ZDNet is reporting that Microsoft is currently working on “Aquila”, a cloud based version of Microsoft’s System Center Operations Manager (SCOM). There is no indication at this time whether or not the Aquila name will change as it is being reported as a project codename.
SCOM is Microsoft’s infrastructure monitoring tool used for system health, availability alerting, and performance monitoring. Microsoft has been advising customers use Azure monitor as the SCOM replacement over the past several years. Aquila is said to be a Microsoft-managed version of System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) in the cloud. A key feature mentioned is that Aquila will be compatible with a current SCOM deployment supporting migration and support for users management packs. This is very exciting as this appears to have a direct path to migrate your on-premises monitoring tools to the new cloud solution.
